The Haunting in Conneticut
Above all else, the use of sound in this trailer is significant. The use of calming music before "the catch" about the house is mentioned is calm and peaceful to create a sense of comfort, which the viewer will soon be taken out of. This then switches to very eerie music as the real estate agent mentions that the house has "a history." Then as they are sleeping, there is the sound of cheerful music coming from the tv, which results in the protagonist switching the tv off. This is then followed by a loud uncomforting noise to startle the viewer. All of these uses of sound are significant as they help to create a sense of comfort and then quickly yank them out of it which is exactly what our piece will try to do.
